“Everybody needs beauty as well as bread, places to play in and pray in, where Nature may heal and cheer and give strength to body and soul alike.” – John Muir, The Yosemite, 1912. A Maine road trip through Belfast, Camden, and Rockland Maine is a great way to spend a day any time of year. The Rockland Breakwater Lighthouse is a great final destination, starting from Bangor. Travel in numbers. The Ranger took this of us on our way up – before we started the trek. 7 am – ish. Plan to camp in advance. AND CERTAINLY BRING A HEADLIGHT WITH BATTERIES IN CASE OF 16 HOUR HIKE. Great end to a great night….16 hours later. As I was entering the final mile I found myself never wanting to see another boulder again….and I said “I’M NEVER DOING THE KNIFE’S EDGE AGAIN….” After the bonfire, and a glass of wine, we were planning our next trip. <3 DD

One beautiful February day in 2012, my friend Melissa and I took my old Dodge Durango for a four wheel drive adventure through Millinocket, Maine. We took some of the logging roads so we could see Mount Katahdin. We explored, we had a beautiful sunset, and it was a great day overall. As I’m writing this in 2016, I couldn’t even tell you where we drove. But it was beautiful!
